565 driving offences in Ionian Islands last week

CORFU. Police checked 1,790 vehicles.
(Ionian Islands Regional Police Department) Traffic Police carried out spot checks between 14 and 19 April in Corfu, Zakynthos, Cephalonia and Lefkada.
1,790 vehicles were checked and 565 offences were confirmed (219 in Corfu, 173 in Zakynthos, 110 in Lefkada and 63 in Cephalonia), with the appropriate fines being issued.
The violations included:
- 115 for speeding
- 87 for not wearing a helmet
- 22 for MOT violations
- 15 for not using seat belts
- 12 for driving without a licence
- 8 for using mobile phone while driving
- 6 for driving under the influence
- 4 for violating right of way
- 3 for driving on the wrong side of the road
- 1 for dangerous driving
- 1 for worn tyres
- 291 other offences
