917 driving offences in Ionian Islands last week

CORFU. Police checked 3,260 vehicles.
(Ionian Islands Regional Police Department) Traffic Police carried out spot checks between 31 May and 6 June in Corfu, Zakynthos, Cephalonia and Lefkada.
3,260 vehicles were checked and 917 offences were confirmed (296 in Corfu, 257 in Cephalonia 195 in Zakynthos and 169 in Lefkada), with the appropriate fines being issued.
The violations included:
- 131 for not wearing a helmet
- 114 for speeding
- 94 for not using seat belts
- 23 for MOT violations
- 21 for driving without insurance
- 14 for driving without a licence
- 13 for driving under the influence
- 8 for driving on the wrong side of the road
- 5 for illegal overtaking
- 3 for using mobile phone while driving
- 2 for running a red light
- 489 other offences
