΄First Sunday΄ procession with sacred relics of St. Spyridon

CORFU. The procession is held in remembrance of the saint΄s miracle in 1673, when he saved the island from the plague.

In a solemn atmosphere, crowds of people witnessed yet again this year, the procession of the Patron Saint of Corfu, Saint Spyridon, on Sunday, November 5th, in commemoration of the miracle of 1673 when the Saint saved the island from the plague. Among those attending the procession were the island's three MPs and local government officials.

The religious events began on Saturday evening, November 4th, with Vespers, led by Archbishop Nektarios.

Today, Sunday, November 5th, the celebrations continued with the Matins and the procession of the sacred relics, and will continue with Vespers at 18:00. Following the service, Archbishop Nektarios will begin a series of evening sermons.
