179 driving offences in the Ionian Islands
CORFU. 14 vehicles were immobilised, including 10 motorbikes for noise pollution.
On 11 October traffic police in Corfu, Zakynthos, Cephalonia and Lefkada carried out checks for driving offences. 486 vehicles were checked and there were 18 violations for noise pollution - 10 in Corfu, 3 in Zakynthos, 3 in Cephalonia and 2 in Lefkada.
There was a total of 179 driving offences including the following:
- 2 driving under the influence
- 15 speeding
- 1 not wearing seat belts
- 18 not wearing crash helmet
- 5 using mobile phone whilst driving
- 1 running red lights
- 22 without driving licences
- 4 without insurance
- 6 without MOT
plus 105 other violations.

Police checks are continuing.
