CORFU. The Region supports the development, the improvement and the activities of the Museums in the Ionian Islands.
Regional Governor Rodi Kratsa's message for International Museum Day:
“The Region supports the development, the improvement and the activities of the Museums in the Ionian Islands. This year's global message is "The Power of Museums", which is bringing us closer to the multifaceted role of museums in modern society.
From being places to admire history and art, they are becoming places of innovation, cultural exchange, new technologies, artist meetings and dialogue between art and society.
They are becoming bodies that are raising awareness regarding the new challenges of sustainable development, cultural identity and individual responsibility when it comes to achieving collective goals.
The Ionian Islands Region supports the initiatives of the Museums in all the islands and is cooperating with local bodies and the Ministry of Culture in order to upgrade them and make their operating conditions better.
By supporting our Museums, large and small, we are protecting our history and culture and it is our duty for the future of our societies.”
