Employment Minister hands over keys to last council houses

CORFU. The keys to the last 12 council houses in Agios Ioannis were handed over today, in the presence of Employment Minister Kostis Hatzidakis & OAED Director Spyros Protopsaltis.
The project of 176 houses has been completed after 12 years of waiting and after many bureaucratic and construction problems. It even reached the point where those eligible squatted in half-completed houses to express their indignation.
The estate is partially completed, since there are still some technical issues remaining, with the sewage network being the most important.
The traditional blessing took place before the handing over of the last houses. Corfu ND MP Stefanos Gikas, KINAL MP Dimitris Biagis, Deputy Regional Governor Melita Andrioti, Mayor Meropi Ydraiou, ND local officials and, of course, residents were also present.
