CORFU. Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Municipality is repainting crossing and parking spaces for those with special needs in Corfu Town.
Most, if not all, pedestrian crossings in Corfu Town are in great need of attention and could almost be called an endangered species! The paint has faded so much on most crossings that they can hardly be seen.
However, the good news is that the Municipality of Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands is giving them a fresh coat of paint (although, for most of them it is more like starting afresh) to the pedestrian crossings in an effort to improve the quality of life for pedestrians and drivers.
The pedestrian crossing in Alexandras Avenue near the Maraslio Town Hall is one example.
Half of it was painted today, Friday 20 March, and the other half will be completed on Saturday - allowing the first half to dry.
