112 dangerous driving offences in Ionian Islands over New Year
CORFU. A total of 1,873 vehicles were checked in the Ionian Islands.
Between 27th December and 1st January, 47 traffic police units in carried out checks on 1,873 vehicles in Corfu, Zakynthos, Lefkada and Cephalonia.
There were a total of 246 driving offences, including 112 considered dangerous.
The offences included:
- 54 speeding
- 8 driving under the influence
- 1 running a red light
- 1 dangerous driving
- 8 not wearing seat belts
- 12 not wearing crash helmets
- 1 using mobile phone whilst driving
- 2 driving on the wrong side of the road
- 15 without driving licences
- 1 for worn tyres
- 9 without MOT
