The Regional Agrifood Cooperative in collaboration with Corfu Chefs Club will be treating everyone to traditional loukoumades ahead of St. Spyridon's name day on 12 December. The traditional sweets will be available today, Friday 9th, from 12:00 to 15:00 outside the former Prefecture (opposite Municipal Theatre).
The tradition of the Saint's 'tiganites' has its roots in the Venetian occupation of the island and uses the Venetian recipe from that time.
According to tradition, the custom begins on the eve of St. Spyridon Day and continues on the day itself. This year the event is taking place on Friday to better serve the working public.
