Donation of wood to Corfu Prison school for construction of chessboards

CORFU. Continuing support for Corfu Prison school from individuals and businesses.
Friends of Corfu Prison School posted the following:
"Once again, Simonettis timber company is assisting Corfu Prison School with a donation of wood to construct 12 chessboards for the chess lesson given every week by the renowned teacher Manos Nathanail from Corfu Chess Club.
The pupils themselves will construct the chessboards in the workshop under the guidance of Petros Kostoulas. Our special thanks go to Frantzis Melidoniotis for the kind gesture."
Programme for inmates
Corfu Association of Chessplayers began a new community programme in September with lessons and the organisation of demonstration games and tournaments at the Second Chance School at Corfu Prison.
The 2-hour lessons take place every Friday and are aimed at both beginners and those who have some knowledge of the game with equipment provided by the Association.
The inmates have been enthusiastic about the programme and the Association has also proovided them with chess dictionaries in Arabic, Albanian and Urdu for the many foreign nationals taking part in the lessons.
