CORFU. The Corfu Association of Booksellers and Stationers responded to the request from the Mayor and the large families.
The Association is offering free school supplies and schoolbags as well as a 10% discount on all school articles to large families.
Mayor Meropi Ydraiou thanked the Association for its generous offer to the local community and said that it demonstrates the community spirit of the Corfu shops and the support for the local economy.
In response to the request from the Corfu Association of Large Families regarding basic school articles for young children just starting school, the Mayor requested the help of the Corfu Association of Booksellers and Stationers to support the local community and its vulnerable groups.
At the meeting which took place yesterday at the Old Town Hall the Association representatives said, "Our shops are located in the town and in the villages of Corfu and we play not only an economic role, but also and mainly a community role, helping to cultivate culture and art through our bookshops and will always respond to the economic and social needs of our fellow citizens."
Present at the meeting were the Deputy Mayor for Culture Chrysoula Tombrou, the President of Corfu Association of Booksellers and Stationers Mathaios Gisdakis, Vice-President Ionas Zaitel and from the Corfu Association of Large Families Alexandros Kotsis - Vice-President, Spyros Vernardakis - Secretary and Giorgos Armeniakos - Treasurer.
