Galiatsatos to Kratsa:"We΄re handing over the Region in positive condition"

CORFU. Compliments were exchanged at the official handing over of responsibility for the Regional Administration on Thursday afternoon.
The outgoing Regional Governor Theodoros Galiatsatos, in the presence of the Regional Council President Christos Moraitis and Deputy Governor for Finance Dionysis Stravoravdi, handed over a large dossier with the Regional portfolio to Rodi Kratsa and gave a brief report.
""We are handing over the Regional Administration in a positive situation," he said and referred to outreach, safeguarding of public property and democratic principles, the relationship with Ionian Islands expatriates, modern methods of promoting the brand name 'Ionian Islands' in tourism and promotion of local agricultural products. He also talked about the Ionian Islands Regional Land Plan and the Regional Solid Waste Management Plan.
Mr. Galiatsatos also told Ms. Kratsa of the 28m Regional reserve and the current funding projects from the Public Investment Programme, ESPA etc.
He also told her of a "last-minute gift", as he called it - the amount of 5.7m is being returned to the Regional Administration after winning the Opera House court case.
Concluding, Mr. Galiatsatos stressed that "as a political party we didn't adopt the policy of undermining the incoming authority even though we lost the elections - something which wasn't the case with the previous regional authority and Mr. Spyrou in 2014."
The incoming Regional Governor Rodi Kratsa thamked him for his comprehensive update and for the work that he did. She stressed the need to work at twice the speed in the coming years so as not to lose out on funding as well as her intention to work closely with the local authorities. "Today is a day of emotion and responsibility," she concluded "and I respect you as a partner in the upcoming efforts to achieve the objectives of the Region."
