CORFU. The festival opens this evening in the central Spianada Square, where members of Corfu Chefs Club will cook and present some traditional Corfu dishes to members of the public – pastitsada, bourdeto, bianco and many other Corfu ‘brands’ will be on show accompanied by local wine and beer.

CORFU. They mainly discussed the operation of the Temploni facility and other matters affecting Temploni and the region.
Burnt-out buildings bear witness to what happened at Lefkimmi landfill facility
Images and eye-witness descriptions bear witness to what happened at the long-suffering Lefkimmi facility on Sunday morning. The fire which broke out during the night was spotted on Sunday afternoon – when everything had already burnt out! The Municipality is pressing charges. The Regional Governor is enraged. Lefkimmi Cultural Society and Mr. Charalambos are claiming it was the work of provocateurs. Meanwhile, everyone is waiting to see what is going to happen next. Today at 12:00 the Mayor is meeting with the Temploni Action Committee, which has hardened its stance.

Charter flight from Corfu makes emergency landing in Italy.
BRINDISI. A charter flight which had taken off from Corfu Airport had to make an emergency landing in Brindisi on Saturday 5th May.

CORFU. Strong words from the Regional Governor, Theodoros Galiatsatos, in a post on Facebook regarding the Lefkimmi landfill arson.
Barricade taken down at Lefkimmi landfill
LEFKIMMI. The tyres that had been placed as a barricade blocking access to Lefkimmi landfill were removed today in the presence of the police.
Corfu MP Fotini Vaki: Police knew about the arson!
CORFU. Corfu SYRIZA MP Fotini Vaki loudly denounced the police on a Corfu TV channel on Sunday night, saying that they had had information concerning the arson attack at Lefkimmi landfill.

CORFU. Residents were alerted when a contractor΄s refuse truck entered the Temploni landfill this morning and emptied the rubbish onto the mountain of waste at Unit 3, which residents had wanted to blockade.
