CORFU. The sounds of the Old Philharmonic Band can be heard in the streets of the old town. Thousands of visitors on the island.
Visitors and locals gather outside Corfu Philharmonic Society as they do every year in an atmosphere of reverence listening to the Old Philharmonic Band's final rehearsal.
The town lights are purple in mourning for the Lord's Passion whilst at the Catholic Cathedral (Duomo) in the Town Hall Square 12 candles have been lit which are extinguished one by one with each reading of the Gospels.
