Anemomylos ΄Thomas Flaginis΄ Choir chanted and sang in Venice
The ΄Thomas Flaginis΄ Choir from the Anemomylos Cultural and Environmental Society visted Venice from 22 to 24 April, having been invited by the local community of Orthodox Greeks.
Municipality Employees΄ Union opposes the contracting out of refuse collection to private companies
CORFU. The Municipality Employees΄ Union sent a long letter in which it expresses its opposition to the contracting out of cleansing services - even temporarily - to private companies.

Hellenic Navy vessel to attend opening of Erikousa port
CORFU. A special celebration is being prepared for the opening of Erikousa Port. The Corfu Port Authority (OLKE) President, who had been ‘guardian’ of the ‘orphan’ port, has asked the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff for a Navy vessel to come in order to give the event greater prestige, whilst also placing emphasis on the national importance of the infrastructure at the northwest Greek border.

Road accident in Potamos with injuries
CORFU. At about 8:30 on Saturday morning in the centre of Potamos (near the pizzeria) the driver of a jeep lost control and the vehicle overturned, trapping the driver and passenger inside.

Sad anniversary of the killing of Coastguard Marinos Zabatis
CORFU. He died at 25 years of age on the morning of 27th April, 1997 near the bay of Panagia Thesprotias, heroically fighting drug traffickers who used to sail daily from the Albanian coast at that time.
School festival ‘What if it were you?’

CORFU. The disagreement between the prosecutor and the examining magistrate as to whether the man accused of the manslaughter of Eleni Spitieri should be remanded in custody means that the case will go to the Council of Misdemeanours.
Let΄s Do It Greece: Voluntary clean-up of villages and beaches
CORFU. The clean-up of towns, villages and beaches is part of the Let΄s Do It Greece voluntary project on Sunday 29th April throughout Greece. The following areas are participating in Corfu:

ATHENS. At least four island municipalities are being looked at – Corfu, Cephalonia, Mytilini and Rhodes as well as mountain regions such as Grevena.
Erimitis beach clean-up
CORFU. The ΄Erimitis Plus΄ Association is beginning its spring campaign to do an extensive clean-up of the Erimitis shoreline along with friends and other lovers of the ecosystem.
Power cuts – Friday 27 April
CORFU. The Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (DEDIE) has announced that there will be power cuts on Friday 27 April from 08.30 to 14.00 in order to carry out necessary work on the Central Lines.
