Man who hit police officer given 18-month suspended sentence

CORFU. The man who punched a police officer yesterday has been given a suspended sentence.
The court accepted that there were mitigating circumstances and accepted the accused man's remorse. He was given an 18-month suspended sentence and the 55-year-old lodged and appeal and was then released.
On Wednesday morning the man punched a police officer, who then had to be taken to hospital where he got a stitch in his eye. The officer has been given time off work to recover.
