Ionian Islands Regional Authority takes part in COTTM 2025 tourist exhibition in Beijing

CORFU. The Ionian Islands Regional Governor, Yiannis Trepeklis, is opening channels of cooperation with the Chinese market.
(Ionian Islands Regional Authority Press Office) Led by the Regional Governor, Yiannis Trepeklis, the Ionian Islands Regional Authority is participating this year in the 18th China Outbound Travel & Tourism Market (COTTM 2025), which is taking place from April 24 to 26 in Beijing, at the National Agricultural Exhibition Center.
COTTM is considered one of the most important international tourism exhibitions and serves as a key meeting point for China’s outbound tourism market. This year it is hosting over 220 exhibitors from more than 50 countries and attracting more than 5,000 Chinese tourism professionals.
The Ionian Islands Regional Authority’s participation, with its own independent pavilion, is part of a targeted strategy to expand its tourism presence in Asia—particularly in China—focusing on extending the tourist season and promoting the Ionian Islands as a high-quality cultural and nature-oriented destination.
The Region's pavilion—representing the only Greek presence at this particular international exhibition in Beijing—was also visited by the Head of the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) office in China, Pavlos Mourmas, who expressed his satisfaction with the Ionian Islands Region’s presence at COTTM 2025.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, the Governor held a series of meetings with representatives of travel agencies, cultural institutions and the Chinese academic community, accompanied by the Dean of the Ionian University, Professor Andreas Floros. The discussions focused on joint action initiatives in the fields of tourism, education and culture.
Just a few weeks earlier, in Athens, the Governor of the Ionian Islands, Yiannis Trepeklis, had an official meeting with the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Greece, Fang Qiu, during which both parties reaffirmed their mutual desire to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in strategic sectors.
From Beijing, Mr. Trepeklis stated the following regarding the implementation of the Region's outward-looking strategic plan through the establishment of international partnerships:
"Our presence at COTTM is a significant step toward actively penetrating the dynamically growing Chinese market. Our goal is to establish stable partnerships that will enhance our region's extroversion, promote our tourism product, and contribute to the overall development of the Ionian Islands."
