Visit of Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ionian Academy

CORFU. The Ambassador, who is visiting Corfu for the first time, stated that he was captivated by the island΄s natural beauty and hospitality.
(Ionian University) The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Greece, Mr. Arif Mammadov, was welcomed on Tuesday, April 1st, by the Dean of the Ionian University, Professor Andreas Floros, at the Ionian Academy.
The two men had the opportunity to discuss, among other topics, the prospects for academic collaboration between the Ionian University and universities in Azerbaijan in the scientific field of intercultural understanding and languages. The discussion included the development of joint study programmes and the exchange of academic staff.
It was announced that, in the near future and with the intervention of the Ambassador, the first official contacts between the Ionian University and Azerbaijani universities expressing interest in collaboration will be scheduled for implementation.
During Mr. Mammadov’s stay in Corfu, which was arranged following an invitation from the Ionian University, the Azerbaijani Ambassador delivered a lecture to postgraduate students of the Master’s Programme in “Politics, Language and Intercultural Communication” at the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation, and Interpreting. His lecture focused on the relations between the two countries and their cooperation in areas such as energy, agriculture, tourism, education, and culture.
The Ambassador, who was visiting Corfu for the first time, expressed his admiration for the island’s natural beauty and hospitality. He also extended special thanks to the Dean of the Ionian University, Professor Andreas Floros, and Professor Ioannis Karras of the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation, and Interpreting for the opportunity to visit the Ionian University. Mr. Mammadov pledged to make every effort to strengthen the relations between the two countries and their collaboration at an academic level, among other areas.
The Dean thanked the Ambassador for his visit to the Ionian University and for the lecture he delivered to postgraduate students. He also noted that a collaboration between the Ionian University and a Language University in Azerbaijan will soon be established for the benefit of students from both institutions. Additionally, through this academic partnership, further collaborations will be developed in the fields of tourism, energy, environment and culture, benefiting the broader Ionian Islands region.
