531 driving offences in Ionian Islands last week

Traffic Police carried out checks between 2 and 8 March in Corfu, Zakynthos, Cephalonia and Lefkada.

1,841 vehicles were checked

531 offences were confirmed (260 in Corfu, 112 in Zakynthos, 82 in Cephalonia and 77 in Lefkada).

These included the following:

• 156 for illegal parking
• 96 for speeding
• 37 for not using helmets
• 22 for not using seat belts
• 20 for driving without a licence
• 17 for driving under the influence
• 15 for MOT violations
• 12 for driving without insurance
• 6 for using mobile phone while driving
• 6 for noise levels above the limit
• 3 for dangerous driving
• 2 for driving on the wrong side of the road
