199 driving offences in Ionian Islands over Christmas period

CORFU. There were 1,667 police checks on vehicles.
Between 22nd and 26th December 42 traffic police units in carried out checks on 1,667 vehicles in Corfu, Zakynthos, Lefkada and Cephalonia.
There were 199 driving offences, including the following:
- 39 speeding
- 16 driving under the influence
- 9 not wearing seat belts
- 20 not wearing crash helmets
- 2 using mobile phone whilst driving
- 2 driving on the wrong side of the road
- 8 without driving licences
- 1 for worn tyres
- 6 without MOT
