Former Ano Korakiana Primary School to be completely renovated
CORFU. Internal and external work will be carried out - painting, waterproofing, roof repairs, door and floor repairs, toilet reconstruction as well as electronic works.
(CENTRAL CORFU MUNICIPALITY) Restoration and maintenance work at the former Ano Korakiana Primary School is now underway. The project has been assigned to a contractor, and the improvements to the building infrastructure, which will change the appearance of the school complex, are progressing rapidly. The complex was granted by Central Corfu Municipality to the Ionian University for educational and related activities.
Internal and external work will be carried out - painting, waterproofing, roof repairs, door and floor repairs, toilet reconstruction as well as electronic works that will make the building fully functional.
The building previously housed the Special Vocational Junior High, but was deemed unsuitable for accommodating children due to its age and inadequate accessibility. The building has been granted for the use of the Ionian University, for a period of 30 years, in order to exclusively serve educational, scientific and cultural activities of the institution.
The Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands Mayor, Meropi Ydraiou, expressed her satisfaction with this development, as it covers the building needs of institution, reconstructs and utilises a significant school infrastructure, as well as creating a new hub of development and culture which will add greater value and vitality to Ano Korakiana and the surrounding area.
