Ionian University included in Chinese Ministry of Education’s list of recognised Greek universities

The Ionian University is pleased to announce that it has been included in the list of Greek universities recognised by China’s Ministry of Education through the Chinese Service Centre for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE), the official body responsible for academic exchanges and the recognition of academic qualifications in the People’s Republic of China.

This development marks an important step towards strengthening the University’s international presence and broadens opportunities for academic cooperation with Chinese universities and organisations, as well as for attracting students from China. The Ionian University’s inclusion in the relevant list was finalised following a lengthy process of cooperation with the CSCSE, with the support of the Study in Greece organisation.

In December 2024, the Ionian University signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement with the CSCSE, providing for the development of joint initiatives in the areas of internationalisation, student and staff mobility, academic exchanges, and the promotion of educational cooperation between Greece and China.

Ionian University Dean Professor Andreas Floros stated:

“The recognition of the Ionian University by China’s Ministry of Education confirms the systematic efforts our institution has made in recent years to strengthen its international presence. Combined with our strategic cooperation with the CSCSE, this development creates the conditions for further academic and research collaboration between Greece and China. The Ionian University continues to invest systematically in international outreach and the development of high-level international partnerships, strengthening its position on the global academic map.”
