Rotary Club presents awards to Fire Service ΄unsung heroes΄

CORFU. Corfu Rotary Club President Apostolos Kontoyiannis presented honorary diplomas and the club pennon to Fire Service officers.
Corfu Rotary Club held a special event at Corfu Reading Society on Wednesday 25 January.
In recognition of the unceasing and crucial efforts of the unsung heroes of the Fire Service, who face extreme situations in order to protect our lives and properties, the club welcomed and presented awards to the leadership and by extension every firefighter on the island.
It was also an opportunity for the Rotary Club members to learn directly from Fire Service officials about the strategical management of crises and destruction. The following officials were invited to the event: Corfu Fire Chief Nikolaos Kolovos, 1st Fire Station Chief Nikolaos Avlonitis, Head of Thinalia Firefighting Unit Gerasimos Avlonitis and Head of Argyrades Firefighting Unit Andreas Yiannoulis.
Fire Chief Kolovos held everyone's attention with his description of the service's strategies and mistakes made by the general public in crises followed by answers to questions posed by members of the audience.
