Tria Gefiria-Vrioni bypass to be put out to tender in 2022

CORFU. What the planning of the Ionian Islands Region includes for projects and infrastructure with a total budget of €41,274,800.

Projects, studies and works amounting to €41,274,800 will be put out to tender in the near future by the Ionian Islands Region. These include the long-awaited roadworks on the road in South Corfu (Vrioni - Moraitika section), which will be tendered within the first quarter of 2022 and the Tria Gefiria-Vrioni bypass, which is set to be completed in the summer.
 
According to the Deputy Regional Governor for Infrastructure and Technical Works Manolis Orphanoudakis, the planning of the Region for the projects that are tendered from now on and for 2022 include 19 works to be done with resources from the Public Investment Programme (€9,450,800), State Autonomous Resources (€324,000) and from the NSRF (€31.5 million).
 
In particular, the following works will be carried out:
 
- Road maintenance, cleaning and improvement of the road network (two years) (€1 million)
 
- Repair works following ‘Ballos’ storm (€1.5 million) (includes repair work, earthworks, road surfacing)
 
- Maintenance of North Corfu (€950,000)
 
- Maintenance of Central Corfu (€830,000)
 
- Maintenance of South Corfu (€750,000)
 
- Garitsa shore road (€1 million)
 
- Flood protection work in North, Central & South Corfu (€1,350,000)
 
- Studies for roundabouts at Tria Gefiria, Ekati and Agia Ekaterini (€200,000)
 
- Updated study for the bypass at Skripero (€200,000)
 
- Updated study for the bypass at Argyrades (€650,000)
 
- Updated study for the bypass of Corfu Town (€650,000)
 
- Repair and maintenance of roads (€150,000)
 
- Repair of street lightning (€50,000) – Road improvement (€100,000)
 
- Horizontal and vertical signage (€24,800)
 
- Construction of Police Station in Argyrades (€270,000) (€130,000 funding from the Ionian Islands Region and €140,000 from the Police)
 
- Agios Mathaios Cultural Centre (€100,000)
 
- Road in South Corfu (Vrioni - Moraitika section) (€4.5 million)
 
- Bypass Tria Gefiria - Vrioni (€27 million)
 
Mr. Orphanoudakis told Enimerosi that the project to improve road safety on the road from the Vrioni junction to Moraitika exclusively concerns road surfacing.
 
The tendering is expected within the first quarter of 2022, as the preparation of a geological study is required beforehand and its contracting is expected within 8-10 months.
 
 
Tria Gefiria - Vrioni
 
The project includes the construction of a 2.8km long road and three level crossings.
 
The new road will bypass the existing Ethniki Corfu-Gyros Achilleiou Rd. from the junction ‘Tria Gefiria’ to the ‘Vrioni’ area with a new alignment from the level crossing in Kanalia to the level crossing in Vrioni.
