CORFU. Heating oil became available in Corfu yesterday.
Corfu Petrol Dealers Association representative Antonis Sakkos told Enimerosi that the price of heating oil in Corfu is €1.20-1.25 per litre.
Although it had initially been estimated that the price would be over €1.30, it has turned out to be slightly less. Nevertheless, this is still an increase of around 30% from last year, when the price was €0.84!
Low sales
According to Mr. Sakkos, sales have started slowly and mainly to consumers whose tanks are empty. It is estimated that over recent years the consumption of heating oil in Corfu has decreased by about 40%.
Customers who cannot afford heating oil have been turning to more economical solutions such as wood, the price of ranges from €100 to €130, depending on the area and labour costs.
