Italian Ambassador meets Mayor Meropi Ydraiou

CORFU. The Italian Ambassador, Patrizia Falcinelli, came to Greece and paid a courtesy visit to the Mayor Meropi Ydraiou’s office.
The Ambassador was accompanied by the Italian Consul in Corfu, Friderikos Valsamis, as well as by officials of the Italian Embassy in Athens
In the discussion that followed, Mrs. Falcinelli said that this is the first official visit of the Embassy since the Covid-19 pandemic and that Corfu and the Ionian Islands were chosen because they are a popular destination for Italian tourists.
Then, they discussed about the relations between Italian cities and Corfu and referred to the strengthening of cultural and commercial exchanges. The Ambassador assured that an effort will be made to increase the number of Italian tourists next year.
Finally, Mrs. Falcinelli thanked the Mayor for the way she dealt with the pandemic in Corfu, which resulted in Italian citizens feeling that they are visiting a safe destination for 2021.
