The Mayor Erion Veliaj welcomed Meropi Ydraiou at the Tirana City Hall, in the presence of the Deputy Mayor for Tourism, the City Council President and the Directors of Administration and Public Relations and other high-ranking officials of the Municipality.

The two Mayors discussed the relations between the two countries, focusing on the special bond between our region and Albania and the possibilities of cooperation between the two Municipalities in the fields of education, culture and tourism. They even agreed to strengthen cooperation by signing a memorandum of cooperation for common synergies and actions in these fields.

Mrs. Ydraiou said that the invitation was particularly honourable and important, as it enables the strengthening of friendly relations and cooperation in fields of common interest.

She also thanked Mr. Veliaj for the hospitality, the meeting and the tour he had planned of important infrastructure projects that are being carried out in Tirana, which is known to be the centre of political, economic and cultural life of Albania.

As Mrs. Ydraiou said, the work that Mr. Veliaj is carrying out in his city is remarkable and is a great example for elected officials in local government. She also noted that Albanians living in our Municipality are an integral part of it and there is mutual cooperation and respect.
