Construction of new school building in Gastouri included in Regional Programme

The construction of a Primary School in Gastouri, Corfu and the restoration of five earthquake-stricken schools in Cephalonia have been integrated into the Ionian Islands Programme 2014-2020 with a total budget of 8,979,406 Euros.
The 6 projects are as follows:
- The construction of a Primary School in Gastouri, with a budget of 2,450,000€. The old school will be demolished a new one built on the same site. The new two-storey school will fulfil all the specifications of a modern educational building - six classrooms, a multi-purpose hall, labs, library, offices etc., suitably designed surrounding area along with all the necessary equipment and supplies. It is estimated that the work, which will be supervised by Corfu Municipality, will take 40 months.
- Repair of earthquake damage and reinforcement at 5 earthquake-stricken schools in Cephalonia:
1. 2nd and 3rd Argostoli Junior High School / budget: 1,750,000€
2. Lixouri Junior High and High School / budget: 2,282,000€
3. 4th Argostoli Primary School / budget: 1,185,000€
4. 2nd Lixouri Primary School / budget: 1,200,000€
5. Lakithra Nursery School / budget: 2,450,000€
The five aforementioned projects, to be carried out by Building Infrastructure Ltd are expected to take 32 months.
The projects are co-funded by the European Fund for Regional Development and the Greek State.
