Combining something both enjoyable and beneficial in Sinies
CORFU. 8th Mushroom Festival on November 7–8, organised by Sinies Cultural Society, in collaboration with the Mushroom Lovers’ Associations of Corfu and Greece.
For the eighth year running, Sinies hosted the Mushroom Festival, an event that has now become an established institution celebrating nature, gastronomy, and environmental awareness.

The event, organised by Sinies Cultural Society, was held in collaboration with the Mushroom Lovers’ Associations of Corfu and Greece, and brought together dozens of mushroom enthusiasts, experts, students, and visitors from Greece and abroad.

The first day (November 7) was dedicated to schools: around 200 pupils participated in workshops, presentations, and excursions to get to know the wild mushroom species of Corfu, as part of activities focused on biodiversity and environmental protection.
The second day (November 8) included:
-
An 8 km walk in Old Sinies and a mushroom-collecting excursion.
-
A truffle-hunting demonstration with specially trained dogs.
-
A seminar by mycologist Giorgos Konstantinidis on “Getting to Know the Mushrooms of Greece.”
-
A tasting with recipes by chef Fotis Paraskevaidis and live music by the band “Ta Paidia tou Berdé.”
This year’s event had a strong international character, with participants from Serbia, Croatia, and Cyprus, as well as a tourist-oriented focus, promoting Corfu as a destination for ecotourism and nature lovers.
