CORFU. "I have been and remain at the disposal of Greek justice," said the Archbishop of Corfu, Paxos & Diapontia Islands.
Archbishop Nektarios gave a statement after he learned of the appeal lodged by the Prosecutor against the court's verdict of not guilty in the case of the church service on Palm Sunday.
The Archbishop's statement:
"I have been and remain at the disposal of Greek justice, which I respect and trust and demonstrated this by appearing in person at my recent trials.
The Corfu Prosecutor has lodged an appeal, as is his legal right, against the verdict of not guilty in the case of my leading a church service on Palm Sunday.
When the case will be tried again by the three-judge court I will be present, God willing, to give my testimony again with my conscience as my witness and defend the morals, traditions and responsibility given to me by the Church and the Corfu people and demonstrate once again my respect for the laws of the state.
I would like to thank everyone who has supported me and continues to do so in various ways. May the blessings of the Saint be with us all."
