The Deputy Mayor for Tourism Panayiotis Varouchas
CORFU. The findings will form the basis for a new strategic tourism development plan for Corfu.
An important agreement has been reached between the Central Corfu Municipality's Tourism Department and the Ionian University Tourism Department. They will conduct a survey, the findings of which will form the basis for a new strategic plan for the development of Corfu tourism.
The survey will focus on businesses, employees, visitors and residents of Corfu.
There will be the opportunity to collect valuable data and draw conclusions about the possibilities of developing alternative forms of tourism, about the way in which our visitors judge and rate us, about the way employees and businesspeople deal with the existing model of tourism development and about our advantages and disadvantages as a tourist destination.
Through structured questionnaires, the survey will include the following:
1. Survey of alternative/thematic tourism businesses and potential tourists in the context of the 'Thematic Tourism' course.
2. Survey of residents, workers and businesspeople in tourism.
3. Visits to tourism bodies and tourism businesses.
Lecturer and supervisor of the above actions is the Assistant Professor of the Department Mrs. Sophia Karabela, while the research fields and the collaboration with the Municipality have been approved by the Head of the Tourism Department Dr. Konstantinos Voglis.
