Illegal immigrants trying to reach Italy from Corfu found positive for Covid
CORFU. Three illegal immigrants who were trying to travel to Italy from Corfu in a wooden boat on Monday morning were arrested by the Coastguard and found to be Covid positive.
The three Indians were part of a group of 14 immigrants who had recently arrived in Corfu. According to information available, the majority of them arrived by air saying they were coming for seasonal farm work.
The same sources say that the Coastguard discovered them off the coast of Corfu trying to travel to Italy. They were arrested and, according to protocol, were tested for Covid-19. All 14 are being held separately in quarantine and they will all be tested again in the next few days as it is feared that there may be other positive cases due to contact without any safety measures.
