The National Vaccination Committee has announced that from Monday 27 June those aged 30-59 can have their second COVID booster if they wish.
Ministry of Health announcement:
"Implementing the decision of the National Vaccination Committee to adminster the 2nd booster (4th shot), we continue to strongly recommend this for the over-60s.
With regard to those over 60 years of age, the National Vaccination Committee states that there is not enough scientific data at the moment to indicate extra benefit from a second booster with the existing vaccines. Nevertheless, the National Vaccination Committee recommends making the second booster available to people aged 30-59 if they wish it. The online platform will be available for this age group from Monday 27 June."
ERT reporter Sophia Patramani said that the Committee decided to recommend that those over 30 years of age get their fourth shot if they wish it. When the online platform opens over the next few days, this age group, whether or not they have underlying health conditions, will be able to book the fourth shot to protect themselves against the 04 and 05 variants.
The Committee said that it continues to strongly recommend, as it has done since 4 April, that those over 60 get their fourth shot as they are at risk from serious illness, especially if they have chronic health conditions.
