CORFU. It was found that the main valve of the borehole was closed and the pump’s thermal switch had tripped.

DIADEYAK issued the following announcement regarding the water supply outage in Gastouri:

DIADEYAK would like to inform the public that the interruption of water supply in Gastouri on Saturday, August 16, as confirmed by the service’s technicians, was caused by malicious and dangerous tampering during the night by an unknown individual at the central pumping station in Graves.

Early in the morning, when our technicians were notified of the water supply outage in Gastouri, they went to the pumping station there, where they found that the main valve of the borehole had been closed and the pump’s thermal switch had tripped. Thanks to this safety system, the pump itself was not destroyed, and it was immediately reactivated after reopening the water supply valve to the reservoir.

Thus, the water supply to Gastouri’s network is gradually being restored, and by late evening, the water service in the entire area is expected to have fully normalised.

It should be noted that the operating conditions of the village’s aqueduct have improved significantly over the last three weeks, with only minor local issues, thanks to the independent water supply of the wider Perama area from the borehole at Zougra, Kinopiastes.

To prevent a recurrence of this criminal interference with the operation of the borehole in Gravas—and elsewhere—the company will take all appropriate measures, including the installation of surveillance cameras, so that in the event of a repeat incident, the perpetrators will be identified and brought to justice.”
