Desalination unit removed from Lefkimmi... but it will be returned!

CORFU. The contractor, seeing that it hadn’t been used for a year since its installation was announced, simply moved it elsewhere...
Those who saw—or even just heard—that the owner of the much-discussed desalination unit in Lefkimmi had come and taken it were left stunned. It’s no longer there! The incident quickly became a hot topic, temporarily at least removing all the glowing praise that had been expressed over time about this supposed solution to the area's water supply problem.
However, the situation is less worrying than it initially seemed, and in any case, the installation of the desalination unit there is not under threat. The contractor, seeing that it hadn’t been used for a year since its installation was announced, simply moved it elsewhere. Once the necessary conditions are in place here, he will return it intact to its position.
The president of DIADEYAK, Achilleas Mazis, who spoke with Enimerosi in an effort to clear up the confusion, sought to reassure anyone who might be concerned. He stated that he had contacted the Ministry of Shipping, which is overseeing the project. That communication confirmed that the contractor has a valid agreement and will indeed bring the desalination unit back. What’s needed now is for the Municipality of South Corfu to provide the necessary electrical power, as well as to connect the desalination unit to the water supply network, so that it can help supplement the system during periods of drought and water scarcity.
