Lyrical Evenings at Old Town Hall

CORFU. A gala featuring beloved opera arias, Greek operetta pieces and Italian canzonettas, in the iconic Old Town Hall.
A unique experience for the public during the Carnival festivities
A gala featuring beloved opera arias, Greek operetta pieces, and Italian canzonettas, held inside the iconic Old Town Hall, will transport us to another era—that of the San Giacomo Theatre—aiming to engage the audience’s senses. With traces of the past embedded in space and time, the event will awaken both individual and collective memory.
San Giacomo Theatre is the first modern theatre established in Greece. Throughout its nearly two-century history (1720-1892), it staged significant works from the operatic repertoire of the greatest European composers of the time. At the same time, it showcased the creations of renowned Ionian and Corfiot composers.
The Carnival was the period when all forms of entertainment were at their peak. At San Giacomo, the best theatrical performances were staged, while opera and operetta nights, along with grand balls, enriched the dazzling festivities.
The love of Corfiots for music and lyrical theatre has deep roots and continues to this day.
The performances will last 25 minutes each, running repeatedly from 19:00 to 20:30, allowing as many people as possible to attend. Admission will be free. Additionally, the performances will be broadcast live on a screen in the square.
