The largest volume of scheduled airline seats during the period of March to October 2024 is from the United Kingdom with 813,207 compared to 723,886 in the corresponding period last year, marking an increase of 12.3%.
In second position is the German market, with 381,550 airline seats (an increase of 1.8%), followed by the Italy with 224,452, - a 16% increase. The fourth position is held by France with 119,683 airline seats (an increase of 23.8%) compared to 96,648 in the 2023 season, while the top five is completed by Poland with 102,070 seats and a marginal increase of 1.3%.
Encouragingly, data from Czechia, which follows, also shows an increase of 58.3% with 81,323 airline seats compared to 51,363 in the previous year.
Beginning and end of season
There are also positive indications regarding the beginning and end of the season, something desired by all the tourism stakeholders on the island, in order to have a spread of visitors across more months, leading to the desired extension of the tourist season.
According to the available data from the Airdata Tracker (the digital hub of INSETE for the analysis of incoming international flight data), there are positive developments in airline seat reservations in April (85,309), May (215,882), September (374,231), and October (207,559), recording an increase compared to the corresponding months of last year.
The largest volume of scheduled airline seats is of course recorded in the heart of the tourist season. June shows an increase of 16.9% with 370,555 seats, July 21.1% with 460,831 seats, and August 21.5% with 471,642 seats.
