Ionian Islands Region at Frankfurt International Tourism Exhibition

CORFU. One of the leading exhibitions in the field of business tourism, with 3,100 exhibitors participating from around the world.

Ionian Islands Regional Authority participated with great success in the IMEX 2025 International Tourism Exhibition in Frankfurt.

As part of its outward-looking strategy, the Ionian Islands Region took an active role in the IMEX 2025 International Tourism Exhibition, in collaboration with the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO). The event took place from May 20 to 22, in Frankfurt, Germany, at "Messe Frankfurt". This is one of the leading exhibitions in the field of business tourism, with 3,100 exhibitors participating from around the world.

The IMEX Frankfurt 2025 exhibition attracted more than 4,200 professionals and representatives from over 100 countries, highlighting its international character and its importance to the sectors of conference, business, sports and other forms of tourism.

At the Ionian Islands booth, targeted meetings were held with interested professionals and tourism stakeholders who expressed interest in conference and thematic tourism in the Ionian Islands, as well as in promoting local products and the region's gastronomic identity.

The pavilion was visited by the Consul General of Greece in Frankfurt, Dimitris Dohtsis, who expressed his support for the Region’s outreach efforts. He stressed the significance of the Ionian Islands’ gastronomic tradition as a distinct advantage for strengthening their tourism profile and stated that organising gastronomic events in the German market is essential.

The Ionian Islands Region was represented by the Deputy Regional Governor for Entrepreneurship & the Greek Diaspora, Eleni Papanastassatou, who held a series of meetings with stakeholders and representatives from various countries. She showcased the region’s entrepreneurial dynamism and the investment opportunities across multiple tourism sectors. The Deputy Governor also met with the Director of GNTO in Germany, Nikoletta Lekanidi, and the Deputy Director, Hara Prokaki, who affirmed that cooperation with the Ionian Islands Region will continue, including the organisation of FAM Trips for journalists and tour operators to the Ionian Islands.

The booth was curated and supported by the Head of the Tourism Department of the Regional Unit of Corfu, Giorgos Papavlasopoulos.

The Ionian Islands Region's presence at IMEX 2025 is part of its new strategic plan for outward-oriented growth and international networking, aiming to promote the Ionian Islands as a premier destination for high-quality thematic tourism.
