New state-of-the-art ΄eco-friendly΄ cruise ship Sun Princess at Corfu Port
CORFU. The newly constructed cruise ship is considered the first vessel oriented towards sustainability, as it uses LNG fuel.
The huge, impressive, luxurious cruise ship Sun Princess docked at Corfu Port at 9:00 this morning. It belongs to the Carnival Group and is among the largest cruise ships ever built in Italy. The total construction cost amounted to one billion Euros.
The newly built cruise ship is considered the first vessel oriented towards sustainability, as it uses LNG fuel, thus reducing gas emissions. It also features a system for environmentally-friendly waste management.
With a length of 345m, it has a capacity for 5,189 people with 2,150 cabins.
It features an impressive design with its characteristic feature, the exterior 'floating' Sphere Atrium, while at the top the glass-enclosed structure, the Dome, dominates. The 177,882 ton Sun Princess, embarked on its maiden voyage on February 28 and will cruise in the Mediterranean until September.
