CORFU. The new Deputy Mayor of Culture, Old Town and Commerce, Kostas Vousolinos, requests businesses to confine themselves to the designated licensed areas.

The new municipal authority has expressed its intention to restore order in communal areas upon assuming office. Today, the Deputy Mayor of Culture, Old Town and Commerce, Kostas Vousolinos, informed professionals through a letter to the Corfu Catering Association, the Catering and Related Professions Association, and Corfu Unified Tourism Organisation. He stated that regular inspections by the Municipality's services will commence on February 1, and all items found outside the licensed areas will be removed through the prescribed procedure.

The letter

Dear Sir/Madam,

We would like to inform you that the intention of the new Municipal Authority is, among other things, to ensure the free and safe movement of pedestrians, disabled vehicles, individuals with disabilities, and emergency vehicles (fire engines, ambulances, police patrols, etc.) in the communal spaces of our town. Additionally, the Municipal Authority is committed to supporting and collaborating with all businesses.

For these reasons, we urge you to adhere to the boundaries of the designated communal spaces, as specified in the respective permits for the occupancy of communal spaces that have been granted to you.

Furthermore, we kindly request you to remove any equipment from these areas that is not specified in your permits, as well as any equipment you may have stored in these areas (stored benches, unused umbrellas, tents, shelves, etc.), as such storage is not allowed according to the relevant permits.

In light of the above, we inform you that regular inspections by the Municipality's services will commence after February 1. Among other measures, any items found outside the licensed areas will be removed through the prescribed procedure.

Deputy Mayor,

Konstantinos Vousolinos
