Enimerosi event a great success

CORFU. Following the speeches, a question-and-answer session took place, during which several interesting points were made.

The event, which is part of the celebrations for the 40th anniversary of the first issue of the newspaper Enimerosi, took place with great success on the evening of Saturday, June 10th. The event was held in the historic building of the Ionian University, which until recently housed the Bank of Greece in Old Town Hall Square.



There was a presentation of the book by Sotiris Triantafyllou, President of the Panhellenic Federation of Journalists' Unions (POESY), titled "Mass Media and Journalism in Transition: The Changing Working Conditions of Journalists in the Digital Era", which is based on Mr. Triantafyllou's doctoral thesis.

The author himself presented the book, and speeches about it were given by Associate Professor Manolis Drakakis from the Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology, Aristidis Vrachatis, Assistant Professor from the Department of Informatics at the Ionian University, and journalist and Enimerosi publisher of , Giorgos Katsaitis.



The event addressed interesting topics such as the evolution of information in the last quarter of the 20th century, the role of journalists today, as well as phenomena of the modern era such as the ability to produce content from digital media and the role of artificial intelligence.

Following the speeches, a question-and-answer session took place, during which several interesting points were made.

Among others, the event was attended by the Regional Governor of the Ionian Islands, Rodi Kratsa; Corfu ND MP Stefanos Gikas; the Dean of the Ionian University, Andreas Floros; former Mayor Yiannis Kourkoulos; municipal councillor  Giorgos Karydis; the president of the Corfu Union of Journalists, Spyros Zervopoulos, as well as several journalists from Corfu media outlets.



The Ionian Camerata from the Ionian University also performed, conducted by Spyros Gikontis.
