Lorryload of humanitarian aid from Central Corfu Municipality

Central Corfu Municipality filled a lorry with packages with basic necessities donated by the public, schools and other organisations on Tuesday morning to send as humanitarian aid to the earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria.



The doantions that had been collected on the ground floor of the former prefecture building were sorted today by municipal and Civil Protection employees and packed ready to be sent to Athens before going to the earthquake zones.





There has been a tremendous response from the public. Clothing, foodstuffs, first aid, medicines, healthcare items, shoes, blankets, baby food and milk as well as infant care items were brought to the collection point every day.



The response has been so good that the municipality has extended the collection.
