Great performances from three young Corfu triple jumpers

CORFU. The 37th National Indoor Athletics Championship is taking place at the Peace and Friendship Stadium in Athens with all the top Greek athletes taking part.

Amongst the top athletes were three young girls from Corfu who dominated the triple jump, taking three of the first four places!
The three all began training in Corfu, coached by Pavlos Skordilis. Spyridoula Karydi took first place with a jump of 13.42m, Konstantina Romeo was third with 12.78m and 16year-old Melina Zaraga was fourth with 12.67m - almost achieving 12.70, which is the qualifying distance for the European Under-20 Championship.
Coach Pavlos Skordilis has done tremendous work with the three Corfu athletes. Melina Zaranga is the only one now still training in Corfu with Karydi and Romeo having gone to Athens clubs. However, as Skordilis said, the highlight was the great performance by the youngest of the three, Zaranga. It is being said that if she continues like this and with hard work she could better the performances by Romeo and Karydi in the World and european Championships.
