CORFU. Combining sport, culture and history.
On 24 September Corfu Mountain Trail and Central Corfu Municipality are organising the Corfu Old Town Urban Trail.
"This is the third year that the run is being organised with Corfu Mountain Trail," Deputy Mayor for Sport and Culture Chrysoula Tombrou said at a press conference. "It combines sport, culture and history with 14km and 7km runs and a 5km walk."
She said that 12 municipal choirs will be taking part in the cultural aspect at various points of the run in the town. There will be a tourist guide leading the 5km walk providing participants with information about the history of the cultural monuments.
Vassilis Alamanos, a member of the Corfu Mountain Trail organising committee, said that the slogan is "Running through our History".
"There will be two runs for participants, depending on their capabilities, both passing all the historical parts of the town," he said.
"The runs will begin in Liston at 17:00 on Saturday 24 September. They will go past all the town monuments and at the end there will be a cultural event in the Lower Square."
