CORFU. The price of unleaded petrol has dropped to €2.17 per litre in Corfu. Dramatic drop in demand.
Liquid fuel prices at Corfu filling stations are gradually beginning to fall following the recent huge increases due to the international situation. Corfu Petrol Dealers Association president Antonis Sakkos told Enimerosi that prices have dropped today following the worlwide decrease.
Consumers are continuing to limit their purchases, however, in the hope that prices will drop even lower. The price of unleaded petrol has dropped from €2.20 per litre to €2.17 (in some cases even lower), heating oil has dropped from €1.75 per litre to €1.70 and diesel from €2.12 to €2.05.
According to the Liquid Fuel Price Watch committee at the Ministry of Development & Competitiveness, the prices declared by Corfu filling stations range from €2.169 to €2.17.
40% drop in demand
Nevertheless, prices still remain too high for consumers and demand has dropped dramatically, especially for heating oil. According to Mr. Sakkos, demand for heating oil has dropped by 40% due to the fact that so many people just can't afford the expense.
He said that, at the moment, they are waiting and hoping for fuel prices to drop even lower before filling up with petrol and heating oil.
