€100k extra funding for Gouvia summer camp

CORFU. The Ministry of Employment approved requests from six municipalities for funding to cover operational expenses for summer camps.

Deputy Minister Domna Michalidou announced that in order to cover the operational and prepration expenses of the camps that are part of the state programme and to carry out necessary improvements, the following requests for funding have been approved:

Marathonas - €155,000
Lavreotikis - €100,000
Aristoteli - €30,000
Polygiroy - €50,000
Limni Plastira - €100,000
Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands - €100,000

Total: €535,000

Statement from 'Stamatis Desyllas' Children's Excursions President Spyros Neratzis:

"The Board of 'Stamatis Desyllas' Children's Excursions, following its vision based on Citizen-Municipality-Local Community, is pleased to announce the approval of the request made on 18/10/21 for funding of €100,000 from the Ministry of Employment & Social Affairs.

The funding will cover the needs for improvement and modernisation of the facilities at Gouvia summer camp in order to provide the children and the community with the services they deserve.

The funding is part of a total of €535,000 for six municipalities and is an important first step towards the fulfillment of our plans.

We would like to thank the following:

- Mayor Meropi Ydraiou for her trust in us shown by giving us a seat on the Municipal Council and the collaboration in fulfilling the aims of 'Stamatis Desyllas'.
- The Deputy Minister of employment & Social Affairs Ms. Domna Michalidou and the Ministry services for their cooperation and quick decision.
- The Municipal Social Protection Department with Ms. Maria Sayianidou and Ms. Gerakina Malakoudi.
- Deputy Mayor Giorgos Pantelios and his department for their support, guidance and trust.
- Deputy Mayor Nikos Kalogeros and the Technical Works Department for compiling the technical report.
- Deputy Mayor Dimitris Katehis for his interest and recommendations.
- As President of the Board, I would personally like to thank the Vice-President Marinos Mihalef and member Yiannis Grammenos for their contribution and their support and their trust in me. I would also like to thank Ms. Tonia Hondroyianni for her excellent cooperation and patience.

With this funding we need to continue - and we will continue - in the same spirit of cooperation with all bodies in the utilisation of the funding until the next opportunity!"
