PATRAS. The young boy tested negative for Covid in Corfu.
A 4-year-old Corfu boy is hospitalised in serious condition in the Children's ICU at Patras University Hospital. The boy has acute asthma syndrome and was transferred from Corfu by Super Puma helicopter on Wednesday.
The youngster is intubated on a helium ventilator - an innovative method for respiratory problems only in use at Patras Regional University Hospital.
With this method a mixture including helium is administered in order to open the bronchi and allow the passage of the necessary oxygen. This method has been used successfully once before by the Children's ICU team at the hospital.
The young boy had taken a Covid test in Corfu, but this came out negative.
