PATRAS. The condition of the 27-year-old woman who had the Johnson & Johnson vaccination worsened considerably.
The 27-year-old Corfu woman is hospitalised at Patras University Hospital with complications that appeared a few days after she had the Johnson & Johnson vaccination.
She was initially taken to Corfu Hospital but was then transferred to Patras University Hospital as her condition was judged to be especially serious.
Argyris Simeonidis, Professor of Haematology and head of the Haematological Clinic at Patras Hospital, said that there is a high probability that the complications are connected with the vaccination but it hasn't been proved yet.
He said: "There is extensive thrombosis in the abdominal blood vessels - something that is extremely rare both in this country and abroad.
It is very important that from the moment the symptoms appeared the woman received the necessary treatment from my colleagues at Corfu Hospital."
Doctors remain cautious and are waiting to see how the young woman responds to the treatment she is receiving.
Argyris Simeonidis said: "It has been treated as an emergency from the moment she arrived at our hospital and clinic and all the hospital personnel are involved."
