Celebration programme for National October 28 Anniversary in Corfu

CORFU. The parade will take place at 12:15 on Thursday 28 October.
The Ionian Islands Regional Administration has announced the programme for the celebration of the National 28 October Anniversary.
Due to the safety measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus, this year's events on Thursday, 28 October will adhere strictly to public health regulations
Wednesday 27 October
- Flags will be flown at public and Municipal services, public companies and shops from 08:00 on 26 October until sunset on 28 October.
- All public and Municipal buildings, banks and shops will be lit up at night from 26 to 28 October.
- Morning celebratory events at primary and secondary schools.
- 12:00 - Laying of wreaths at the Hero Statue by Ionian University students, school pupils, scouts and guides, who will be led by teachers. Corfu Town educational authorities will also be present and the ceremony will be accompanied by philharmonic bands.
Thursday 28 October
07:30 - Marches with Philharmonic Bands in the central streets in town. Joyous pealing of bells in all the churches.
08:00 - Raising of the flag at the New Fortress with armed forces lined up at the entrance.
10:55 - Arrival of guests of honour at the Metropolitan Church.
11:00 - Official Doxology at the Metropolitan Church Spiliotisas led by Nektarios Archbishop of Corfu, Paxos and Diapontia Islands.
Following the Doxology the formal message of the day will be presented by Emmanuel Drakakis from the Ionian University Department of Archives.
11:30 - Memorial Service and laying of wreaths at the Hero Statue by officials.
12:15 - Traditional parade with war disabled, students, pupils, scouts, guides and units from the Armed Forces, Police, Port Authority, Fire Service and Border Guards as well as the Philharmonic Bands 'Old', 'Mantzaros', 'Spyros Samaras' and 'Capodistrias'.
17:30 - Lowering of the flag at the New Fortress.
