CORFU. There has been interest from investors recently in the former KTEL bus station property in Spilia.

This imperious but now empty building has a rich history but the ravages of time can be clearly seen. For decades it has remained unused apart from a section which is used for storage and although there has been interest shown by investors from time to time nothing has ever come of it.

It is, however, a 'desirable property' next to the New Fortress and the Tenedou neighbourhood - an area that has been completely developed except for the old two-storey building which many still remember as the first  KTEL bus station.

Interest in the property has been expressed recently by a Greek-Egyptian fund. According to available information, negotiations are proceeding well and it is believed that the old property will come to life again - perhaps as a boutique hotel or some other type of investment property.

History of the property

The KTEL bus service had been located there since the 60s and was always a busy area and meeting spot. In the early 90s, just before the EU Summit, it moved to Pallada and then to the new, modern property that was constructed in Eptanisou Ave a few years ago. The Spilia property changed hands but still remains unused, empty and dilapidated.
